How we look after your information
A Will holds some of the most personal information you will ever write down, names, relationships, property, and intentions you may not have shared with anyone. We treat it accordingly.
Our approach is simple: collect only what is needed to produce your document, protect it properly while we hold it, and let you remove it completely whenever you decide.

Protecting your account
Your answers are saved to an account that only you can open, secured with your own email address and password. You are responsible for keeping those login details confidential, and everything done through your account is treated as done by you, so choose a strong, unique password and do not share it.
Encrypted in transit
Traffic between your device and our service travels over an encrypted connection, so what you type cannot be read as it crosses the network.
Encrypted at rest
Information is held in encrypted form on secure servers rather than sitting in plain text on a disk somewhere.
Restricted access
Access is limited to the small number of people who need it to run the service and support customers, and it is granted on that basis alone.
Where your data lives
We use established, reputable third-party providers to host our platform, store data, send email, and process payments. We choose providers that maintain recognised security standards and operate their own encryption, monitoring, and access controls, rather than attempting to build that infrastructure ourselves.
Card payments are handled entirely by a specialist payment provider. Card numbers are entered directly into their secure checkout and are never stored on our systems, so there is no card data of yours for us to lose.
Only what is necessary
We ask for the information needed to produce your document and to run your account, and no more. We do not sell your information, and we do not use the contents of your Will for marketing.
Because free-text boxes end up inside a document that other people may one day read, we suggest keeping them to what is genuinely relevant to your wishes. In particular, think twice before recording health details, religious beliefs, or other sensitive information about a third party unless it is directly connected to what you are asking for.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from the account menu in the navigation bar. Doing so permanently removes your saved answers and generated documents from our systems.
- Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone
- Download or print anything you want to keep first
- Residual copies may persist briefly in routine backups before ageing out
- We may retain a minimal record of a transaction where the law requires it
Keeping your documents safe afterwards
Once you print your Will, its security is in your hands. A signed Will is the original and cannot simply be reprinted, so store it somewhere protected from fire, damp, and loss, a home safe, a solicitor's strongroom, or a bank, and tell your executors where it is. A perfectly secured file is no use if nobody can find the paper copy.
What you can do
- Use a long, unique password that you do not reuse anywhere else
- Sign out when using a shared or public computer
- Keep your device, browser, and email account up to date and secured
- Be wary of any message asking you to confirm your password or payment details
- Delete your account when you no longer need it
Reporting a security concern
If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, or you have spotted something that looks like a weakness in our service, tell us as soon as you can at info@willowwills.com. Reports are taken seriously and investigated. We would far rather hear about a problem early than find out about it later.
No online service can promise perfect security, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. What we can commit to is sensible, current practice, minimal data collection, and being straight with you if something goes wrong.
